Here are several activities related to the 'galette' (and particularly the recipe) for beginners: videos and bingo games, true or false, questions on a document and vocabulary of the recipe.
First of all, you will find my other resources on the galette des rois in previous articles:
vocabulary and activities for beginners
I like to show a video explaining the tradition to my students, in french or in english.
This short video shows a family cutting the cake with the youngest daughter under the table. My students then took turns disappearing under their desks for a role play. They loved it!
Then we work on the vocabulary of Epiphany with the resources that I have already shared in my previous articles.
For my slightly older students (10-12 years old), I prepared two activities based on invitations found on the internet to work on question words:
And a 'true or false' to learn or revise cooking vocabulary:
Here are some activities for younger children around the recipe (click on the PDFs):
To prepare for the story P'tit Loup est le roi de la galette:
And to learn the vocabulary of the recipe and to be able to understand the recipe given at the end of the story:
And to actively listen to these stories (books or videos) I prepared bingo games corresponding to each story. Children must listen carefully to the story and color the words heard:
Finally, with the youngest ones we decorate crowns. You can find many models a lot of templates to print, color and cut out.
That's it for my resources for this year, I hope you find them useful!
